Sound familiar?

Signs it
needs sorting.

If any of these are happening, don't sit on it. Small plumbing problems get expensive quickly.

  • Water pooling in the shower or sink and draining slowly
  • Gurgling sounds from the toilet or floor waste
  • A sewage smell in the yard, bathroom or laundry
  • Overflow from an outside drain after using water inside
  • More than one fixture backing up at the same time
  • Water backing up in the shower or floor waste when the washing machine empties
  • A soggy, unusually green patch of lawn along the line of the sewer pipe
How we fix it

Done properly.
Explained plainly.

You'll always know what we found, what it'll cost and what your options are before we start.

Drain camera inspection

We look inside the pipe before we quote, so you know whether it's roots, grease, a collapse or a foreign object.

High pressure jetting

Cuts through roots, fat and build-up and scours the pipe wall clean instead of just poking a hole through it.

Electric drain machine

For tight internal lines and older pipework where jetting isn't the right call.

Long-term repair options

If the pipe is damaged, we'll show you the footage and talk through relining or replacement, no pressure.

Sewer and stormwater drains

Blockages in the main sewer line, stormwater pits and downpipes, not just the sink or the toilet.

Toilets, sinks and floor wastes

Internal blockages cleared with minimal mess, then tested before we pack up.

The four usual causes

Almost every blocked drain we're called to in Western Sydney comes down to one of these. Knowing which one decides whether clearing it is enough or whether the pipe needs repairing.

  • Tree roots. Older homes often have clay or earthenware sewer pipes with joints every metre or so. Roots find those joints, even in a pipe that's otherwise sound, and they grow back.
  • Fat, grease and wipes. They coat the pipe wall, build up and catch everything else. Wipes don't break down the way toilet paper does, whatever the packet says.
  • Damaged pipes. Cracks, offset joints and sagging sections hold water and debris, and keep causing blockages until the pipe itself is repaired.
  • Foreign objects. Toys, hygiene products and building debris in newer estates, usually found on camera and removed.

Is it your drain or Sydney Water's?

Sydney Water's test is where its pipes connect to your property. You're responsible for the private wastewater pipes up to that connection point. Sydney Water is responsible for its own network, and the connection point is sometimes under the road or footpath rather than at your boundary.

A blockage affecting neighbours, or overflowing beyond your boundary, usually points to the public network. If only your property is affected and it only happens when you use water, it's almost always on the private side. Call Sydney Water on 13 20 90 if you think it's theirs. If you're unsure, we'll put a camera down the line and show you where the problem actually is.

Jetting, drain machine or relining: which fixes what

The right method depends on what's in the pipe, so we look first.

  • High-pressure jetting for roots, fat and heavy build-up, because it scours the pipe wall clean rather than punching a hole through the blockage.
  • An electric drain machine for tight internal lines and older pipework where jetting isn't suitable.
  • Pipe relining when the same line keeps blocking because of cracks or root entry, as it repairs the pipe from the inside without digging up the yard.
  • Excavation and replacement when a section has collapsed or lost its fall and can't be relined.

What it costs and when to call

A blocked toilet or an overflowing sewer is worth treating as urgent, and our 24/7 emergency plumber service covers it day or night. For a slow drain you can book a time that suits. Our guide to what it costs to unblock a drain in Western Sydney explains what pushes the price up or down, and we always agree your options and price before we start.

What blocked drain work typically costs

In Western Sydney, our guide puts typical blocked drain jobs at these ranges:

  • A basic sink, bath or floor waste clear: $120 to $280.
  • A toilet or main line clear: $220 to $450.
  • High-pressure jetting: $350 to $700, depending on pipe length and access.
  • A CCTV drain camera inspection on its own: $150 to $350.
  • Genuine pipe damage needing excavation or relining: from $1,500 up to $10,000+ for a long relining job.
  • These are typical ranges from our own cost guides, not quotes. Access, the age of the pipework and the time of day all move the price, so we explain your options and the cost before any work starts. For the full breakdown, read what it costs to unblock a drain.
Straight answers

Questions
we get a lot.

How fast can you get here?

For an overflowing or sewage-affected drain we treat it as an emergency and aim to be with you the same day, including after hours.

Will you have to dig up my yard?

Usually not. Most blockages clear with jetting. If the pipe itself is broken, relining often repairs it without excavation.

Why does it keep coming back?

Recurring blockages almost always mean tree roots or a cracked pipe. That's why we camera the line instead of just clearing and leaving.

Is my blocked drain my responsibility or Sydney Water's?

It depends on where Sydney Water's pipes connect to your property, not just where your boundary sits. The private pipes up to that connection point are the owner's responsibility. If the overflow is beyond your boundary, or your neighbours have the same problem, it's likely in Sydney Water's network and you can report it on 13 20 90. If you're not sure, we'll camera the line and tell you what we find.

Can I use chemical drain cleaners first?

We'd avoid them. They rarely shift tree roots or fat further down the line, they can damage older pipes, and they're a hazard for whoever opens the drain next. If you've already used one, tell the plumber before they start.

Why does my drain gurgle when I use another fixture?

Gurgling is usually air being pushed past a partial blockage somewhere downstream. It's often the first warning, and it's much cheaper to deal with before the drain stops completely.

How do I stop it blocking again?

Put fat and oil in the bin, not the sink. Bin wipes, even the ones labelled flushable. Keep floor and stormwater grates clear of leaves. If roots are the cause, the lasting fix is repairing or relining the pipe, not clearing it every few months.

Do I need a licensed plumber to clear a drain?

A plunger is fine. Anything involving opening up, jetting or repairing drainage pipework is licensed work in NSW. We're licensed, and we'll show you what we found on camera so you know what was done.
